How parkour can help you succeed in life
Parkour is something I’m as passionate about as obstacle course racing. Parkour has much more to teach people than just physical skills. One of these benefits is the concept of “obstacle immunity” – a concept popularised by Spartan Race. While parkour and obstacle course racing are very similar in the physical movements they train – the mental benefits of training are, I find, more talked about within the OCR community than they are within the PK community. So in this post I explain, from a parkour perspective, what the concept of obstacle immunity is and how to build it.
Finding an exact definition of the concept from Spartan Race was a bit tricky – but I managed to find one such definition from an Instagram user. Whether that’s the definition of obstacle immunity as used by Spartan, I cannot say. And while I haven’t actually run in a Spartan Race yet (They haven’t come to NZ yet. Wish they would hurry up), I have to say I’ve been devouring their book and their podcast – and I love their work. So it was a pleasure to be able to write about the concept of obstacle immunity and introduce it to a parkour audience, by originally posting the article through NZ Parkour and then posting it now through Movement Unleashed.
